How to Find a Niche on eBay

I've been wanting to start an ebay based business for a while now and I just can't seem to find my niche, I've had a couple ideas but how do I know they will sell? Is there a way to search an exact phrase to see if people are searching that, and if there are no results for it, then it's a good niche. And if their is no one searching that phrase, then is ebay the right place for it?

Any help would be great, and any stories on how you found your niche would be awesome, thanks.

Research for a particular set of keywords you would like to use on your niche. Try this site https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

don't focus on finding a niche. Focusing on finding any product that you can sell for a profit.

Those were my exact thoughts while reading this title (before I even clicked on the thread). Why does it matter what "niche" you're in? Just sell anything and everything you can make money off of.

Why not do a small test, to see if they do sell. You would only need to sell a few, and if you wanted, could even cancel the auction before it finished.

Why don't you do a search on ebay for something similar to what you would like to sell. Its not as easy to make a load of money on ebay as its used to be, between the fees and all the competition now.

Its also a lot of trial and error.

yes, my friend sold 4x4 parts he imported from the us. the reason he sold it is becaus ehe knew about the stuff he was selling.

i believe if u want to be successful at selling something u have to know about that area. write a list of what u know and like and all the possible things u can sell will come next.

eg if your into fantasy novels, there's your area. my point is know your area.

also i bet no-one will tell u this is what i sell and i make good money from it because no-one wants competition and if it's a great idea they would be doing it themselves.

the google adwords is a great tool. Also, think of what most people want-lose weight, stay young, designer clothes, electronics, etc. These are what are popular in general

I found my niche buy selling random items over the course of several years. I have sold shoes, kids clothing, perfume, make up, cereal bowls, cell phones, and countless other items on ebay. Currently, my niche is new and used video games. However, along with my niche, I still sell several other items. Video games are something I enjoy and I can get them at such a low price that when a price has to be reduced, I can do so while still turning a decent profit. It took me about 1 1/2 years to find my niche. My suggestion is that you just jump right in and do it. No guts, no glory.
