I find Facebook works best at optimizing one's brand. Not necessarily as an online store, but as the cheapest form of marketing. It's the simplest,most-direct and efficient form of spreading a message amongst 500-1000 of your closest friends, family and colleagues. Can't complain there.

Facebook is the world's best social networking site. By using events and community pages, an organization get their word out by sending invitations to their friends. Then as each 'friend' chooses to 'like' -or not, either way just checking out the page spreads the word- then every time another person sees what that person likes your organization grows. Facebook is word-of-mouth with analytics. It's the trust-factor taken to a whole new level. To some this may be a marketing dump but for smaller boutique organizations this is a great opportunity.
