How to contact high level executives to sell consultancy services.

I assume more than one of us has this problem when attempting to commercialize their consulting services:

So, how do you think is the best way of contacting executives to sell consultancy services?

    Call them.

I was able to get Michael Dell on the phone just by calling his office and being nice to his secretary. Don't be afraid to simply call them, you'd be surprised who will pick up their phone.

Most successful consulting services are able to have high end clients by the fact that they are established in the industry they operate. In other words, they worked in the industry before switching to consulting.

It would be very hard to get a big name without being referred.

Agreed. Although I've been able to contact a few C-levels, referrals are always best. Lead411.com is a great resource that I use... that or something like jigsaw.com is nice too.

another great way is that these people generally attend industry conferences and the such. Even if you can talk to them for 30 seconds (don't sales pitch them though, they hate that at industry events) a phone call the following week saying you meet them there etc... will get you through the door at times.

Thatīs a really useful piece of advice Proph. It is easy to be tempted to sales pitch as soon as you get the chance to, but it makes lots of sense as you suggest, to wait until a more proper situation. Thank you!

What worked for me (as I am a consultant) was to get (and sometimes I had to pay for this) was to have a professionally written article about the type of consultant services that I offered and then be mentioned within the article as if I were being interviewed along with my business name and presto a flood of inquiry calls and leads would come in.

Call it business highlighting but it worked, and there are places around that do this
