    How to ask for money?

I would like to ask a very wealthy person for a very large sum of money but I do not know how to go about it.

Without getting into too many details, I would like this money because I cannot work due to health problems, I would like to start an online business so that I can work from home and I would also like to use a portion of the money to help others in need.

I was thinking about writing a personal letter to this individual but I feel like since I'm asking for a very large sum of money, I should maybe send a more professional, business-like proposal even though I'm not asking for their business. I want to put time and effort in this so that it looks like I'm very serious.

What should I write? Should I put it in a professional binder-type thing? Should I make pie charts and graphics?

    Please help. Thanks.

Personally I think you should do both. If I were in your situation I would write the personal letter explaining your situation and notifying the person that a more professional portfolio will be following shortly. That way you can appeal to both emotion and reason.

    Good luck...

Just because someone is very wealthy does not mean they will be more likely to give out money. Asking a Millionaire for $100,000 is the same as asking the average joe for $1,000- Neither are giving you a dollar unless they see a solid business plan with a promising ROI.

Approach this as a business person unless you're looking for charity. In which case ignore everything else I share after this. As a business person approaching an investor, you want to present a one page Business Plan that would enable a prudent investor to understand several things.

    1. What your business concept is. If you're interested I will help you with a ten point, one page business plan. Just PM me.
    2. Why you're qualified to succeed in this venture.
    3. What you need for capital.
    4. How you plan to use the capital.
    5. How you plan to pay the investor back and give them a return on their investment.
    6. Where you need the most help from this person, assuming they have the ability and interest in helping you beyond making an investment.

The biggest concern people with money have is not losing it. So you will need to present a strong business case to justify the investment. Which means you will need to do your homework and develop the skills to sell your concept and earn enough trust to bring in the capital.

    Good luck to you.
