Here's a tip many may not be aware of. If anyone has other "I Never Thought Of That" insights....please share them as replies.

GENERATING PUBLICITY ON A ZERO BUDGET

The most overlooked method of generating publicity for your business can be had with three simple lines of text:

Your Name
Your Business Name or Your Domain Name
Your City and State

All over the world, there are newspapers, magazines, online ezines and websites. Every single newspaper, magazine and online ezine generally accepts and publishes "Letters to the Editor."

In addition, webmasters are generally looking for solid testimonials that they can use on their websites.

Just think, if you were to take the time to read a few publications or visit a few websites and take the time to notify the publisher of your thoughts, you might just find your comments being published in all sorts of locations. You never know just where your next paying customer might come from, so take the time to get yourself quoted in these media outlets. You might just find more and more traffic and sales coming from places where you would never think to buy advertising.

I've tried that before. It really is a great idea but I have found that the sites usually willing to publish your testimonial are newer sites with very little page rank. Even so if you can get your testimonial on even a few somewhat significant sites it will be a huge Page Rank boost.

Yeah usually newspapers you do need to know people inside and they need fresh news. If you can provide a media kit and your ideas are fresh, definitely they can help you publish the articles for FREE..

But dont expect to get it so many times!! Usually its only for your launch...So bank on it and make sure that you save some of the profits usually 15-20% for future advertisements.

sure it may work but there are better ways to market yourself/company on the web for free... making a squidoo lens... article marketing... video marketing... all these 'boring' methods can get you ranked #1 on google within 24 hours because you are simply piggy backing on high PR and highly crawled sites that the spiders absolutely love!
