How original do you think businesses have to be to succeed?

Do you think that, in these days, to really succeed a business has to be original, or do you think that tried and tested ideas work the best?

No originality necessary for business success whatsoever.
If you want to be rich, sell products and services.
If you want to be insanely rich, create and control markets.

I think you have to just improve on the tried tested business idea in your own original way.

A business does not have to be original, it can be very unoriginal yet very successful, however it helps of course.

It depends on how you do it. Some are lucky to have the first ideas; some are lucky to give better products than the tried and tested businesses.

If you'll be doing the original ones, good luck! If you'll be doing the tried and tested, be better than the others.

it depends on the industry, your demographic, and what areas within the business.

Your demographic is probably the most cut and dry. The older the demographic the more you need to be on the traditional side of the spectrum (generally).

Plus, areas such as accounting and sales, you probably want to be traditional. But when it comes to marketing and image, you might want to be more original. (generally)

neither, since they are not opposites (original business vs tried and tested ideas).
