How much should I sell my site?

    Hi All,

I am stoked right now because I got an email from somebody who wants to buy my site. I am not sure how much to sell it for so I need some opinions here. Please let me know what you think.

I cannot reveal the site or keywords for obvious reasons.

    Here are some key stats:

    Market: Education

    Google Ranking
Keyword #1: 2nd spot on Google's first page
Keyword #2: 6th spot on Google's first page
Keyword #4: 20th spot on Google's first page
    Keyword #5: Not ranked yet
Keyword #6: 40th spot on Google's first page
Keyword #7: Got lazy on this one and never tried to rank it
Keyword #8: 51rst spot on Google
Keyword #9: 7th spot on Google first page

The keywords get really good traffic too. I have already had people contacting me to join their affiliate programs.

Should I sell? If so, how much? Or, should I just monetize it and continue to climb the ranks in Google?

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Thank you.

    You got pretty good rankings...

How much is it worth? Are you just selling the domain, or the whole site?

Should you sell? Well, hard to say, since there are more factors than just google rank (however, that's important) on which you base your decision. For instance, ask yourself, could I sell it for more in couple of months? If yes, how much?

Does the site make any money right now? The easiest way to value a site is by looking at its current earnings. If it is not making any money then there is really no way to value it other then how much it cost you to build and how much the buyers you can find are willing to pay. Not being able to reveal the site or keywords makes it pretty much impossible for your question to be answered and is usually a sign that the site is actually not worth that much. Most people with good sites want the world to know about them. If you do have monetization plans what are they? Why not just list it on a site like Flippa with a reserve and see how it goes. Let the market give you an idea of what it is worth.

If your website business for sale is already making money then you can demand a price. Consider the labor and technical skills required to operate the site. You also should take into account the industry your website business for sale operates in. Is your website business growing? If so, at what rate? Take into consideration the law of supply and demand and whether it's a seller or buyer's market. Make a research about the current market value of websites similar to yours. With all this information, you should be able to make an accurate valuation of your website.

adumpaul, do not spam here. It is not taken lightly. Based on the keyword rankings that he alright stated, your suggestion makes almost no significant impact on this discussion.

Depends on your vertical, competition in the space etc. Very difficult determining price without reviewing the site, visitor traffic etc.

    Hi all,

Thank you for your comments. The site is making money, but I can't disclose a lot of information because it is a killer niche!!

It is also ranking on the first page of Yahoo and Bing for 3 keywords!! I am excited. After all of the feedback I got from this site and others, I think I will sell it for 10 times the amount I make monthly. Maybe I will wait to rank some more keywords and sell it in a month or so.

Well, I will keep you all posted. I hate to sound so secretive, but I have to protect my hard work
