How important is or can Blogging be for your company website?

Okay so I have my website, which is the home for my business, and on the main page is where our blog is. But the problem is that I only update the about 5 times maximum a mouth. The reason is because I just barely started my business and I am a pretty much a one man team at the moment. I started the company on a very low budget and don't have steady profits to pay someone to keep up on the website, and I am always busy working on new projects for my business or out performing somewhere, or a mix of the sort.

I guess you could say that I do not "make time" but I ultimately would like to know what consequences will wreak without having a dependable blog.

Please help me improve anyway you can based on the information given above. Thanks!

Blogging is important because it brings additional traffic to your site through search engines. The more you blog about topics relating to your site, the higher your site ranks on search engines and also the more likely that someone looking for a specific thing that's mentioned in your blog will wander onto your site. It's a good idea to make a blog entry at least once a week, but if you can't keep up with that schedule maybe you can hire an unpaid intern to do the blogging for you; lots of unemployed people are looking for work experience to put on their resume; especially college students or recent grads.

if anyone else still has anything extra to add, please don't be shy to do so.

I can understand how hard it is to keep up with this. I've never done a good job of putting new posts on my personal blog (until recently). There are alternatives. There are a few people on this site who you can pay to do this for you. I operate 7 corporate blogs which require constant updating. I rely on contractors to make new posts. The other alternative is to use an autoposter. There are ton of them out there. This isn't the best content but it does work.

I have a little more info on my blog about this: Roger Bryan’s Business Blog for Entrepreneurs and Small Business Owners | RCBryan.com

yeah thanks Roger for the additional advice. I have formed a plan on how I can get more active with Blogging for my site.

I also have came to the conclusion that the more often that you update your blog, the better of a reason that people have to return, in which brings more traffic to your site. So I am really stepping up my game for a consistent blog. Thanks everyone for the assistance.

First thing I will say is that you need to focus, focus and focus! If you want to succeed at a specific venture then you have to spend your time on it. If you aren't working to take your business to the next level because you don't have "time" then why do it in the first place? Blogging is definitely one of the most important ways to maintain a discussion with customers. Apart from that, social media is also important but again, you need "time"! If you are sacrificing the success of yourself, your business to do other things that that neglect is not going to help at ALL!

You have to make time to speak, interact and gain feedback from your customers via blogging (comments) and social media (facebook, twitter etc.). Don't become a "jack of all trades but a MASTER of none." Good luck!
