Lightbulb How good is YOUR idea?

As I shape my idea of an ideal business on a daily basis I continually refine my value proposition to my customers. I want to provide the best user experience in a new way but how do you get people to change from what their currently using?

I'm realizing slowly that good products don't matter, good products gets overlooked, good products aren't good enough. The products/services that are truly disruptive in the market are those that are great, those that are remarkable (worth talking about). A good question I keep asking myself is: Will the people dissatisfied with what they're using now embrace this, and will they tell the large number of unsatisfied people to go buy it right away? It's not just about attracting the attention of those consumers dissatisfied with what they're currently getting, but about creating WOM among this group so that your idea spreads, so that those people who have influence are sharing your idea with others.

Are you developing an idea worth sharing? Share it.

From this and previous posts I can tell you've been hanging around the angel groups too long. I'd start working on a real business model and forget the majority of the angel acumen; it's really worthless outside of thier circle.

Provide people with what they want at a price they percieve to be fair. Look at the deals the VCs and angels fund...they're some of the biggest hacks out there creating new and better ways to evaluate business models all while struggling to maintain a ten percent success rate.

I think the "provide customers with what they want at a fair price" is a decent outlook for products/services that are just that: decent. For a new business to truly be great, it must create buzz, it has to be worth talking about, it has to create customer evangelists who are willing to take the idea and spread it to others. In a new era of peer-to-peer sharing networks and infinite niches you have to be the company that is being "talked about" - and that's what I mean by creating something worth sharing.

I don't think you can come up with an offering that is just okay, throw advertising dollars at it and think that "if you build it, they will come". Credibility now rises from below; advertisers don't decide who wins - WE DO.

You left out the key part of that phrase: ...Which they percieve to be fair. Also, it applies to all products/services not just those that are decent.

This is neither a new or novel concept. I believe it's been around since the lightbulb. It's a nice goal, filled with all the latest jargon, but it's for people that sit around and think of what they want to do and how their company should be, but never get around to the implementation.

There are 1000 of these for every one company that meets your definition of great. All I'm doing here is encouraging you to work on the actual implementation instead of getting caught up the the "ideal idea."
