Talking How effective has MySpace/ Facebook been in helping you achieve your goals?

I know that many people/businesses have found social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook to be extremely beneficial. Have you started a MySpace site for you OWN business? Has it been effective/beneficial in helping you to market your products/ services?.......Feel free to share the link to your website/MySpace site.....

.....I read a magazine called inc.com and, last week, they did an article about a T-shirt company named Threadless....with the millions in annual sales that they now do, they have found significant success through using their MySpace site....

They definately are beneficial resources considering the mass users worldwide and considering how often users are on them.

Facebook has been essential in my Internet marketing and the core part of one of my businesses. I'd rather not share my links or mention anything else though.

Myspace has also been a huge part of another one of my projects. I agree with your post. There's now a lot more opportunity due to social networks.

I understand......I prefer to keep some of our secrets closely guarded, as well......although, if you know how to use MySpace and Facebook, they can be extremely effective, thats for sure......

I own a web development and marketing company and we utilized facebook to grow our business substantially without even opening a group or seperate profile. We plan to do this within the next month and I think we will see an even stronger response.

do you use software to surge through the networking sites and add thousands of friends, to get them on your page? or is that something that should be kept quiet?

Well, it's a grey area with the software......I use to use it.......so, I know that it's capable of working incredibly......but, along with MySpace's increased security features, it makes it very difficult to use...... (required CAPTCHA codes)......it's pretty much rendered alot of the software ineffective.....of course, it's a dynamic process trying to tailor their software to the newest features of MySpace......plus, it's walking a thin line with their TOS......it's something that could be debated to no end, but I just decided to do it naturally.......MySpace does make it easy, however, to target a narrow Niche through use of it's groups......

there's clearly been alot of give and take between regular everyday MySpace users and businesses/ companies/ bands/ etc......I think MySpace has done a pretty good job of trying to tailor their service to accomodate both.......it's not that you can't use the software, it's just that it's effectiveness has decreased significantly.......instead of just allowing it to send friend requests to hundreds of people while you walk away.......now, most software wont even send a friend request unless you are sitting there watching as it requires a CAPTCHA code for almost every friend request......it can be really time consuming, of course, building a friend list naturally can be really time consuming as well.......

It's still TOO GOOD of a resource to not use....

I used to own a clothing retail store, and I used myspace for local exposure (I would do a mass-friend requests on all locals)

I wouldn't say it helped the business alot, but it did gave the business some kind of exposure.

    Here's the store's myspace page

    MySpace.com - Kemikal Couture - 22 - Female - GU - www.myspace.com/kemikalcouture
    Unlocked 8GB 16GB iPhones

    iPhone3Gen.com - Coming soon!

Yeah......MySpace waiting until all the major bands/musicians were established with hundreds of thousands of friends, then they implemented the hardcore security settings.....i don't know......there's pros and cons to everything, and one side always looses out........but, typically, MySpace's decision trends have typically favored big hollywood/music trends......with being bought out by News Corp and all......I mean, you can't even login to MySPace without being exposed to the newest movie to hit......it's getting increasingly harder for small businesses to make it on MySpace....
