    How does the selling process to other businesses work?

    using this example of apple...

    do they sale ipods to large stores across the country for a fixed price. The buying company then set the price they want customers to buy at?...

    if that is the case apple would look to sale to larger chain stores with big customers bases as these companies will have bigger customer bases?

    is that how it works??

    thanks for any help

    With apple, they actually control the prices the stores sell their products at (if you notice, apple products are never on sale with the one exception of student discounts). In most cases, the store works with the sales crew from the manufacturer and negotiates a price at which to buy the products at. The larger the store, the more bargaining power they have (like Walmart, they demand ridiculously low prices). After that, the store, barring a stipulation by the manufacturer, can sell the product at whatever price they choose.
