How does eHow make its money?

I noticed they actually pay people who write articles and as I understand it, pay the authors for the hits they've recieved. Do they make their money soley off adverising? Because they don't charge anyone to actually view their articles.

When you get as many hits as they do, the advertising revenue is likely to be in the 7 figure region, payinng someone to write an article that receives hits, boosts traffic thus increases advertising revenue is a good idea.

Many websites use these methods. Off the top of my head, I know that NeoWin.net does this as well. Generally you could make anywhere from $1-3 per 1,000 hits. If you pay the writer $0.40 or $0.50 of this you still make a killing.

I know of many sites that do this as well in many different formats. Make sure you trust your site. Some of the more reputable sites of the past seem to be a bit shady now and shave views a bit (or so it appears).
