how do you keep track of your sales calls?

    Hey guys,

As the title says: how do you keep track of your calling appointments? I will be making many cold calling appointments a day and was wondering what would be the best software or program for these types of situations? I'm currently using excel to keep track of who I call and which businesses are interested in setting up appointments. But i realized there was a big problem:

    1) Due to the fact that i will be constantly searching up businesses online , there will be chances that I will be searching up the same business. It would be hard to keep track of which businesses i have called already unless i go through every excel from previous calls.

How do you guys manage these situations? I haven't figured out which program to use since i am on a budget so i only use excel.

    Thanks

Any decent contact management system will do that for you. I've had good success using Gold Mine, ACT and an on-line system called Salesforce.com. I'm sure there are numerous others, if you don't have the funds yet as soon as you make a sale take the money and invest in a decent system as it will pay for itself pretty quickly

We use Zoho CRM. It isnt bad. Web based, and you get your first 2 or 3 users free. So if you are a small outfit especially it is advantageous. I liked it better then act, and I felt like Salesforce had the better product, but the cost of salesforce wasn't worth it. I have never used Goldmine.

Thanks for suggestion.. I just installed sage ACT premium since a buddy of mine have a copy of it . The software seems abit confusing at first since its my first time running these program. I am still trying to figure out how to simply just add all my businesses into the database. Since i currently use excel so its very simple as all my business categories are sorted out in tabs.

Are there any tutorials for this software? I'v been tryin to find it on the web but no luck yet.

I'm personally trying to move away from installed software (which ties me to a computer that also has the software) and more toward hosted solutions where the only interface I need is a web browser. Currently evaluating one of the Google Apps things (MavenLink I think it's called) and another platform called WorkEtc, but I haven't made a decision yet.

Of course these programs might be over-kill for what you're looking for, but they also might have a few things you don't realize you need yet - like the complete CRM functionality and following through with the people you've contacted once they convert.
