How do you add a secure payment method to a website?

Similar to like what Amazon have. Instead of using paypal or google checkout for paying for products which is a cost.

i guess he is asking which payment gateway to use instead of paypal and google checkout.
Try a search in google with term "payment gateway US(or your home country)", you will get the answer, but most of them require you to pay as well.

I've never seen a completely free payment processor. If you find one, and have tested it, please share with the rest of us

I prefer the Website Payments Pro from PayPal. I use it in all my ventures (hint: fees go down as volume goes up). $30 a month is a great rate for the tools available.

Do you mean in terms of receiving money for a product or sending money?

What I mean is that for example: i'm looking at making an online website to sell products, I looked at webs.com where you can create your own website however you can only pay via paypal, on other sites you can pay via worldpay. These are inconvenient to the customer and on amazon.co.uk (or.com) you payment is done insite via a credit card - by typing in your numbers.

For a small business this obviously reduces the cost as you dont have comission taken from paypal or worldpay and you can keep 100% of the revenue.

Talking to someone the other day, they own thier own small business and have used fasthosts.co.uk to create it. This is one website where the payment is done via worldpay. With me wanting to create my own website and business:

    - How can I have a payment sytem similar to that of amazon on my website?

    and

    - Would it be possible to have one on a tool such as fasthosts.co.uk? If not are there any other website builders which would enable me to do this?

    Many thanks

    Charlie

I think, one should only agree to make payment online if the site is a trusted website, that is all.

It will cost you to process cards, period. You can use 3rd party tools like
1ShoppingCart to streamline the user experience.

You can also setup completely custom payment pages with the APIs from other gateways. It all depends on how much you are looking to spend to achieve the seamless checkout.

Why not use QuickBooks and use their merchant services? Sure, it does cost money but it also lets you do your accounting/book keeping so it's more then just processing...

The payment processing company I work for sets up e-commerce websites with Authorize.net. Take a look at their website, they are great to use for e-commerce. If you do decide you like Authorize.net let me know, our company can set you up for cheaper since we are a reseller for them.
