How do i start this idea?

I've always wanted my own clothing line but for now. I really enjoy handembroidery names especially. I have a small idea. The beanies that new borns wear right after birth lol, I would like to sell those with names on them based out of a website called well I won't say but you get it, I would probably want to reach out to pregnant moms and their friends and family. The thing is they will all be hand done. My issue is where to find the baby clothes, how exactly to advertise, and I much I would be able charge? And any other ideas you may have for me.

    Thanks guys =)

    Jordan.

I would join nice groups such as pregnant mom forums, baby forums, baby clothing forums. You could try speaking to companies selling baby clothing.

    Hi there Inle, Jordan here,

I've had this idea for quite some time and this very idea will be used as a stepping stone, baby clothes seem simple enough eh? Plus I just love babies and I love to hear about and especially see the response I get from ladies when they see what I've done with a baby garment. Now I just have to get paid for it. :P Actually i m not looking for this to be a big source of income, I'm looking at sales from the actually product and also money generated from ads on the site, also one big thing I will be giving money to a foundation from every thing I sell I know its bad but I forget the name of it, its like a research cause to aid in healthy baby developement.

I'm looking to embroider baby names and initials onto baby beanies to start out and to work on the orders as they come in nothing predone but the beanie it self embroidery is fairly inexpensive the only thing id like to splurge on for quality purposes would be the actual beanies. I have an initial web site in mind and later on if I decide I actually want to do baby clothes I have another for that they are both available.

Legal parts when I have everything in place I have people I cn go to for that but I want to have everything laid out before.

What I really want here is to have someone go over the basics with me like how much I can expect to charge for these items and exactly how and who to approach with the product.

    Hi Jordan..

I am gladly surprised that you pmed me..

I will add my reply here so that everyone can have a look and gather some insights & inject some inputs for your business..

From your reply, I figured that you had sorted out everything except for the marketing of your offerings & its values to the market..
I am assuming you got a busíness plan & at least a marketing plan..

If we are looking in pricing strategies, there are some ways we can look at(i extract these from one of the posts I replied to regarding product pricing)..

    1) There is the cost based method:
that is adding a mark up to your cost(including all the costs, from manufacturing, inventories, marketing) as profits..
it might be as a fixed price to certain product or a percentage..

    2) There is the market based pricing:
that is depending on the supply/demand of the market..
& the price elasities & sensitives of your offerings..
also check on the compeitior's pricings as a guide..

    3) There is a value/benefit based pricing:
it will depends on your offerings' uniqueness & its selling price & its benefits & appeals to your target market..
you can charge a premium if you hit the right spot..

    4) There is the product life cycle pricing strategy:
depending on which stage your offering is, you charge differently..
it could be the entry level, acceptance level, matured level or the decline level..
all will be needed to price differently depending on the market response & the age of your product..

There is the COMBINE ALL of the above method:
which is the sum of every/some aspects of the above methods..

If you are looking at how to market your products, you will first need to know what you are selling..

For example: McDonalds' don't sell burgers; they are selling a fun environment to díne..

I hope I had added some value for you ya..
