How do I register a business pay taxes etc?

What do I have to do to register a new business? how much does it cost? How do I know what taxes to pay?

I found a local SCORE office. It's a bunch of retired business men that volunteer and offer their business experience, knowledge, and advise. I went to them, and told them what i was doing and they told me the best steps for me to take to register my business.

They have offices all over the US... check them out at www.score.org
