How do Adwords or Pay Per Clicks Work?

    Hi,

Could someone explain to me in simpler terms how Adwords and Pay Per Clicks work? My franchise want's me to invest in these but I'm not sure how they work and if they will beneficial to me? I am going to create a website for my franchise, a transmission shop. Most searches from my customers would be "transmission repair *city name" or vice versa.

How could this benefit me, and how do I know which to invest in?

    Thanks...Robert

Call a company that does this for you. You are better off paying the 15% commission then trying to learn this on your own. One of my auction clients sunk $25K into Adwords over a three month period with out proper planning. It turned out to be a waste of money as then did not get the proper terms figured out until after the money was gone.

You really don't need to spend money on ad words for a transmission shop. You do want a website of course, but your customers will be local. As you said they will be searching for transmission repair yourtown your state. Ad word ads are for more global searches.

When you get your business phone they will automatically (usually) give you an online listing so that your business and phone pop up when customers do a local search.

For general info, for those that do want to use ad words, you set your own budget for the words you "buy". If you only want to spend $50 a month that's all that you are charged. You choose your keywords, write your little ad, set your budget and you're basically done. Of course depending upon the popularity of your key words, you may run out of that $50 within the first week of the month. That means your ad won't come up anymore until the next month or unless you set your budget higher.

I would stay away from Adwords. I have had, and know other who have had really bad experiences with Adwords. In my case they accused me of clicking on my own ads to generate revenue, so they canceled my account right before a very large pay out, then wouldn't reinstate it.

The same thing has happened to several friends as well.

    Thats my advice.
