How difficult did you find it to start your first business.

How did you come up with the idea?

How did you finally decide to start?

    When did you start?

    What obstacles did you face?

Did you fail in the process?

    What did you sacrifice?

Finally... How did your journey into business turn out? A success or failure?

i have always been coming up with ideas, so I acted on and others I did nothing with. I think the important thing is to get off the sidelines and jump in the game. It might not work out the first time around, but keep trying.
I came up with an idea a couple years to great a web site like vacationrentals, but focused on florida.
I created the web site back in 2009. Getting traffic was the big obstacle. I created this nice web site, but no one knew about it.
Yeah, it failed after a few months. No one was signing up, so I decided to try something else.
    Time and Money

I started a new business and it has been successful.

I found it very difficult. Not so much the business itself. If I were to do it today, I'd be a rockstar. But I was afraid of selling. I was afraid of spending money. I was afraid of working very hard and it failed.

I started it when I was 19 years old. I went broke because I used the money for my personal life. All of my obstacles, I have recently discovered, came down to low self-worth and not being passionate about it.

It was one of the greatest learning experiences of my life. I got kicked out of my house, I went broke, I learned to manage money, I learned to do things that make me uncomfortable.

    I wouldn't take it back.

    1. Think Bigger
    2. Be disciplined - make schedules for EVERY single marketing activity that you do and spread it over 28 days. I do this and it works.
    3. Become clear on what you want from your business and your life. Really get clear.
    4. Get out of your comfort zone as often as possible.
    5. Cold Call
    6. Examine your internal beliefs about business and yourself. If you have negative beliefs about yourself you will fail.
    7. Manage your money
    8. Be accountable.
    9. Wake up early.
    10. Use a countdown timer and block off 50 minute intervals for extreme focus with 10 minute breaks in between.
    11. Be honest 100% of the time
    12. NEVER give your word if you don't intend to keep it.
    13. Read a lot of books but always make action items from them and implement them (Read Think and Grow Rich)
    14. Only do one task at a time
    15. Schedule thinking time to review where you have been and where you want to go.

    How's that?

That's a quick list of things that are important to me and rules that I have written on the wall in front of me. I cannot look up without seeing them.

    @Musebox,

So what do you do as internet marketer?
What do you for for "Millionaire Mentors Today"? Are you an author? Do you sell ebooks?

    @jrockfl

I am the host of the show which consists of interviews with millionaires. I currently create the content but I will be getting others to do a lot of this over the year.

Specifically I am populating my membership website and putting together thee affiliate program... So you could say its an information marketing continuity business.

I don't sell eBooks but I do sell information products. I have an eBook that I give away as a free gift. Check it out at Millionaire Mentors Access | Systems, strategies and ways of thinking and being from millionaire mentors..

What is your current business? I am assuming you are also online because you wanted to know specifics.

    Thank you for the info.
What kind of show is it? Is it on TV or radio?

So Millionaire Mentors Access | Systems, strategies and ways of thinking and being from millionaire mentors. is a membership web site that you are putting together?
Ok, so you are not the author, you just sell those products? But that ebook is a free gift? Ok, got it..I'm learning!

I have an e-commerce web site selling products. I run it mainly out of my garage, I purchase and store the inventory.
Things have been growing at a nice pace and soon I will be moving the business out of the garage and opening up a retail location.

I guess the most important part of starting a business is collecting funds. Once your business is set, you need to promote your products, services and company. Promoting a new business is another difficult task.

Im finding it to be a little difficult, because I'm starting a website and I have limited knowledge on coding, server talks, mysql, php etc. so I'm learning as I grow. Im trying to be as hands on as possible so its taking me a little longer than I expected because I also have a full-time job plus I work overtime somedays/weekends.

Im trying to customize some things now so I can take down my coming soon page and upload the actual site by Feb 1st. However, the site will only include some of the expected features. From Feb. until my official launch which will be in August 2012 I will be working on getting everything in order and securing advertisers, visitors, members, content etc.
