What type of site are you working with...? You can sell a product, do referral sign-ups, or provide a service. Advertising isn't the ONLY way to make money on the net

1000 visitors/month = 33 visitors/day = 1.37 visitors/hour.

Even if you were a bricks and mortar business, you'd be hard press to make any money at all, let alone good money with that many customers.

Edit: And that's assuming every visitor will make a buy.

I am not sure how to say this in any other way, so I'll just come right out with it: 1,000 uniques per month is absolutely nothing. You need many more before even considering serious income. From my experience, I've not made serious Internet income unless I've had 600,000 or more uniques per month - and that's at the low end. Some of my sites in the past have had 250,000 per day! So definitely grow your traffic quite a bit more, and then revisit this.

I just want to push this topic a bit ahead of itself and ask, how much traffic is needed to make at least $30 per day? and what did you find was the best way to monetize your sites that were seeing over 250k uv per day.

Going by my own website, with Google Adsense in the current recession, you'd need somewhere around 4000 - 5000 impressions a day.

it all depends on what your income streams are
those questions being asked are kinda vague
i make about $150 on my blog but i only get 200 or so uniques a day
thats because I sell two products
i also have adsense which is like $7 a day and clickbank links which average $10 a day
my main income are my products

I think it depends alot on the ad market. For example, if your website is about Gorilla Anatomy and you have 100k unique visitors per day, I would place my bets that a website about earning money online with 1kuniquies per day would do better in revenue. Simply because of the target audience and the frequency and relevancy of the ads.
