    How can I make $900-1000 a month?

I know its a very low amount to most and probably seems like a stupid question but at this point I really need to ask.

Basically I started a pool service business and also sell chemicals and equipment. I quit work to do this. I do have some business but it is slow going right now.

That is why I am looking for a way to make $900-$1000 a month to cover living expenses.

Does anyone have any ideas that may be helpful? Ive sold things on ebay before, but cant seem to find products anymore that theres enough profit margin on.

Again, any sort of ideas would be helpful, thank you very much.

rob a bank....haha no just kididng....there several ways to do this. You could start selling pool accessories or something related to your current industry. Some of the bells and whistles could put extra money in your pocket at the end of the day!

A lot of us are hurting during these hard times. My painting business partner left and got a job to make his ends meet...

What did you do before you did this for work?

Well, you've come to the right place. I suggest making extra money by joining an online business you can work in the evenings while you grow your pool business in the day!
    Best wishes

[QUOTE=dslackman;307649]Why isn't your pool business making $$$. This should be prime time for pools.
Is it lack of customers or weak margins? How are you advertising?

You can try this if you need another

I think its a case of being fairly new and people not either knowing my company or not trusting it.

I advertised in our weekly free paper that everyone gets in thier mail each week. Ive never even gotten a call from that so after 3 attempts I stopped.

The most responsive advertising has come via postcard direct mail using vistaprint. I got a list of address with inground pools from the local tax assessment office. Ive gotten customers from those but certainly not enough.

There are 1700 pools in just my county, which is 1/3 of the area I serve. I have served about 1% of those people in some form or another, just way to low of a number.

You should put flyers on mailboxes you can get 1000 at Staples for $40

Hit the same streets 5 times a year

Make sure you put them on the flags and not in the box

Drive around and stalk the mail man to know when he comes for you can flyer streets after he comes

This will reduce the chance of the mail man taking them or the post master calling you talking smack

I have a family member who does deck staining and pressure washing he only uses flyers on mail

boxes and he is busy all year long...Hes been using flyers since 1996

I sure hope you got the names and addresses of the 1% of the list that came into your store and DID business with you!

Put them on hot list and mail to them every other week or once a month... Send them enticing offers to return to your store. They've come once already... if you can keep them as customers and keep them returning you'll be off to a good start. Then keep trying to bring in NEW customers... and adding them to your list...

Do you offer pool cleaning services? Lookup the houses that have pools and have been foreclosed on... the Agents need to get them from green to clean and keep those pools maintained until they sell.

I'm in southern california and the front doors have business cards on them almost everyday from lawn maintenance, tree trimmers and pool service people. When i needed some garage door work done i called one of the cards left on the porch. cheaper than flyers and don't blow away, also no hassle with post office. the obvious key is repetitive advertising. i recommend finding some form of online business to supplement and eventually switch to, the economy causes many to do jobs (like clean my own pool) that were hired out before. here is one online source that is working for me. ez.com/savenow
