High End Clothing Line - Advice

I would like to start a designer clothing company - selling high-end denim and urban wear to the 16 - 25 year old market.

I am based in NY and have two other partners in Miami and Georiga.

Can anyone give me any advice or put me in contact with any manufacturers who may be able to help.

A friend of mine looked into starting a jeans company as well... we found it pretty difficult to find manufactures. The best luck we had was asking fashion students for direction -- especially the ones with internships.

I'm sure there are fashion design schools in NYC that could help you with some direction for your clothes. You need a few designs, and real versions of your clothing before you can do anything else.

    Clothing Manufacturer

My company which is incorporated in Canada, Thailand and just recently Europe, specializes in custom apparel and footwear. We work with our clients from selecting the raw materials to creating a sample to mass production. We can do pretty much anything - from T-shirts, made to measure suits to shoes. You work directly with us to create a quality garment without having to incur middleman costs. If you are interested in what we can do for you please PM me.

    Hi FOOTS,
I've been working in the industry for a while now, both manufacturing in China and in the US depending on the product. With some experience in Manufacturing Jeans in the U.S. Your options are going to depend on your capital. You'll need alot of capital to source overseas as a result of high MOQ's and shipping costs. You can work with much lower MOQ's domestically, but be ready to pay high Costs per product.

I do source manufacturers for clothing companies, but feel free to pm me with any specific questions you may have.

    Good Luck

Why should anyone buy your 150+ dollar jeans when they can buy from an already established brand with luxury status? Honestly, Anything over 50.00 for a pair of jeans is too much. All these jeans look the same, but if a company calls itself a "luxury brand" they think that justifies the price... it's kinda ridiculous imo. I ALMOST bought a pair of Rock Revival jeans once .

I'm not saying I completely disagree with all your points, however, there is definitely a difference between "luxury Brands" and regular priced jeans. The Material, The Cuts, the Designs, die's, Pockets, buttons, there's a list of differences. If done correctly and with the up most quality and perfect cuts, it can work. People will pay for that. Obviously creating a brand is the biggest battle.

If you get your product made overseas which will most likely be the case, you'll need to brush up on the fundamentals of importing and shipping. I met a guy at a local cigar lounge that imports furnature from overseas and he said it took a while to make relationships with the right people.
