For a small business, CEM (Chief Executive Manager) is equivalent to CEO for a big corporation. It looks and sounds better than "Business Owner".

Hey everyone,
I am a web designer who is starting a pay it forward campaign for small business owners and entrepreneurs and I just want to help out my fellow entrepreneurs get online.
I want to build you a website for free for your business or startup. I will get up the design and coding online for you and take care of the web hosting all for you.
The only thing is I only want to work with basic websites so nothing too fancy as I'm looking to occupy my time on the train rides to my full time job.
You can see my past work and references on my personal portfolio site at

Let me know if any of you guys would be interested by emailing me at augustin1989 [at] gmail[.]com with a description of what you want for a site.
Thanks,
Gus
I think president or owner are more appropriate....

Sooo funny. That is exactly what I am wondering. Printing out my marketing materials and stumbled on that same question. What the heck to name myself as the only one who will own and operate a business.
Of course just the title of assistant will not cut it. Hmmmm, let me think, president sounds weird, that is for sure.
I kind of like the title founder but that rhymes with flounder, nope.
Owner, yep that could work but owner of what, some kind of name would have to appear before that, maybe the company name and then owner. I might like that idea.
But I thought that was so funny when reading your post, because it seems strange when you don't know what title to give yourself.
I think it depends upon the situation. At a bank you are the President. At an meeting of like-minded entrepreneurs, you can be Founder and CEO. On the street you can be whatever. Inside your business you are a customer service representative because customers don't care what you call yourself, only if you can help them. How about Supreme Commander? It isn't that important.
I started a website Bahamas Spot Buzzer - Ultimate guide on living and loving Life in The Bahamas so in my letters i simply put Founder, Bahamas Spot Buzzer beneath my name.
If that works for you great. I love being the "founder" of anything. Good on ya!
