    Help With EIN Number

I recently launched an NFL blog (Eyes On The NFL) and want to start advertising on it but all of the advertising sites ask for US tax number. I'm only 15 and don't have one, what should I do?

You are going to need to register your business and get your tax information (Tax ID numbers) if you plan to make money. This could cost a couple hundred dollars up to $1,000 depending on your State.

You can contact your local Small Business Association if you need more information. They usually host business workshops for start ups. You may be young but I wouldn't let that stop you from starting your own business, but take time to learn what you can.

Do your research see if its worth taking the next step to you, or if you just want to keep a personal site.

    Good Luck

Tax ID is SS# in most cases unless you are a corporation, so just insert your SS# and you will not have a problem. You may have to file a W-9 when you earn over $600., so good luck, I wish you much success and admire you at 15starting a business. Now that is a young entrepreneur.

    Success to all,

Maybe I'm incorrect but I thought you could get your EIN for free. I know that mine cost me nothing. However, my state tax id number did require a deposit of $500 that would be refunded upon my establishment being dissolved.

    Hey Josh,
I'm 17 and I got my EIN the other day. It literally took me two minutes on the IRS website and it was completely free. Age does NOT matter. The info is basic: name, address, social security number, business type, etc. The application approval is instant. I entered my EIN in the tax info section of my profile at Commission Junction and it works just fine and now I'm in business!
    Go to the IRS website.

Oh, and just for the record, your SS# is not always your EIN or TaxId#. All three of mine are completely different. Also, as dirk1234 said, you don't have to be 18. I received my EIN at 16 as well as my TaxID# and business license.
