    Help w/ Building Website

I am working on a local tutoring business for high school - university level courses. It will be quite close to being an agency except for a few key differences. These differences are not important to my question, so I will not bother discussing them.

    Question:
I have never had a website developed before, so I am curious as to who and what I will need. This is obviously the beginning of my research efforts in this area, but I know that there are many developers here as well as people who have gone through this dance many times, so why not get direct answers.

The site will be mainly for informational purposes to start, but I will need to leave room for it to evolve into a site that can support users (each client has an account) with individual files for each user.

    ~~
If any more information is needed in order to give a better answer then feel free to ask away!

    I appreciate all responses.

PS, web designers - feel free to PM me your portfolios.

You would need a domain and a host and figure out which platform would be best to support what you're looking for. From what you're looking, I suggest using Joomla v1.5, which is a free open source CMS and supports the whole web 2.0. Another great thing is that the back end for administrators is pretty easy to use and you don't need to find a web developer every time you want to change or add content.

If you're a beginner to html coding and database, it can be quite overwhelming. You can find Joomla web designers to get the ball rolling.

    Hope that helps!
