    help starting a wholesale warehouse

    Hi,
My goal for this year is to have a warehouse in which i have my wholesale business run from by November 2010. I would be selling designer jeans/shirts (Rock & Republic, True Religion, 7 For All Mankind, Ed Hardy, Hudson, Affliction, etc.). I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction towards starting a wholesale company. I have some connects in the fashion industry but they are unable to give me guidelines to start a wholesale company due to their company policy. Everything I sell from my site will be 100% authentic and come with original tags. If someone could please reply or pm with some information it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    spenser

First of all you can't buy from other wholesale warehouses or you will break even.

You need to buy direct from the makers. However buying from them usually requires a large purchase at once. You might have to buy 1,000 jeans or 5,000 shirts at a time.

    Thank you for your reply,
I wouldn't be buying from other wholesalers, I have access to a lot of overstock/older models from friends who work in the industry. I get them cheaper than they sell for wholesale. I would be making about $40 per pair. Is that worth it?

About 5 years ago, buying $100 jeans was all the rage. People had money. However now with the economy people are looking for $15 jeans. I've noticed the designer clothes is way down, and the non-brands are way up.

Can you make money? yes but probably not as much as you like.

Starting a business like Rugged Warehouse
RUGGED WEARHOUSE - Discount Clothing, Name Brand Discount Clothing Store, Urban Clothing Store

People buy for $5 - $10 per shirt, $10 - $20 per jeans, and the company is still making a 50% - 100% mark up on them. Last time I was in there, I saw 3 people (out of about 12 in the store) with a shopping cart of about 15 clothes checking out.

People buy in bulk at the discount stores, and maybe 1 item in the fashion designers area.

However in Las Vegas, L.A., New York City, etc. Fashion designers are still the hottest rage. You can set up an expensive clothing store and make money. But smaller towns and lesser known states or countries are after low priced items.

Just my 2 cents, hope it helps.

Yeah basically you are homeless or a nobody to them. Which really pisses me off. People will look at you and judge you based on your clothing and not know the actual you. Heck I could be Bill Gates and wear cheap stuff and everyone will think I am a bum.

People need to get over the status symbol. You pay thousands of dollars to wear someone else's name, they get free advertising and all your money. Do they advertise your name? nope

Haha I get strong opinions about stuff.

haha i can tell, i guess it works for me though because i get 4 pairs for the same price people pay for one haha. and i guess i cant really complain because i do the same thing. its nature in oc to see what jeans other people are wearing and base what you think off of that. i dont think people who dont wear them are bums but people who do wear them care about how they look more than who they are in my opinion

In my opinion someone who wears a $300 pair of jeans is no better or cooler than the rest of us.
