Help!! Please advise me on my new website!!

Hi Guys

I left Uni last year and frustrated by the price of travel I set up a website with a friend. It is a car sharing website.

Drivers who are undertaking a journey can advertise available seats, passengers can get in touch and share the price of fuel.

It is integrated through facebook so that you can see your drivers/passengers pictures, interests and even whether you shareany mutual friends.

I would love some feedback on the site if you have time. Also, if you enter a journey in August you can win a pimp up of your car.

Yo! Sounds like an awesome idea to me. On issue would be security but the idea is awesome overall. You might want to also perhaps integrate FourSquare or other geo-location services to make the website even more interactive and real time. Its a matter of spending more time and making the service a bit easier, simpler etc. to use. Overall, its an awesome idea! Good luck!

very difficult to execute. highly unlikely to work.

In theory it sounds a great idea and yes it would sort out alot of the major problems that local authorities have with congestion,pollution and many other issues but the bottom line is people just dont want to give up the individual freedom that the car gives them and this is the problem.

Good idea, and yes, a well organized car sharing or ride sharing concept would work in a recession, so your timing is correct in my opinion. I once thought of a vehicle cooperative where I would set up pools of different vehicles, a sports car, large luxury sedan, SUV, pickup truck and economy car, as example, then sell timeshares to access any vehicle as needed and each would reserved spots for specific vehicles, so ride sharing concept would be a nice addition for those looking to save money in these tough times. I use to drive cars to FL from NY for snowbirds, then again, back in summer, so not only would I get free ride, I would advertise for passengers, so I know concept is sound for it worked for me years ago, and that was without the internet. lol Rental companies use concept to move their rental fleet around and I use to also use this insiders strategy, I would usually hook up with rental company and drive cars back to NY at next to no cost, so I would take a dozen trips a month and make several thousand easily, so if it worked for me, it should work for you, but like with the north to south travelers, this is where the most focus should be.
