    HELP:Need Event Idea

Ok, Well for my marketing class(which I am in now) I am in need of a great outdoor 3 day event.

Their is a contest where I live, every year, from the Eau Claire Tourism Beareu, that gives 10k and helps you set up your event if you win.

I am making one, and have many ideas, but want some opinions, Help me out.

    I have thought of
    -Concerts
    -A big 3 day party
    -Races
-outdoor basketball, 3 day 3 on 3 event.
-Hotty Days(Get as many Hooters, playboy, etc girls to come to an area, where they have like auditions, to become The US Hotty, or something like that.

THESE are all rough simple thoughts, don't judge/critique them negatively, because its just me thinking.

    HELP ME OUT!!
    got any ideas?

hire a mobile skatepark, then get some decent Bmx's/skater's/skateboarders, and get local or even national unsigned bands + barbeque( make some money ).

    Maybe theme it also?

That is good. I dont know if the Beareu will support concepts of hotties and sex, but whatever brings money into the area... I am sure they wouldn't mind.

on top of ur list, you might want to get stands for sponsors where people would get to try their products (e.g. foods and drinks) during the event. Freebies to those who attends?

One thing I'd suggest is throw a carnival. What better way to make a return on your investment and offer the community some fun. I'd suggest finding a secluded (or in other term's) empty parking lot or something (for level surface) or find a nice area to setup in.

Offer ride's, game's and vendor services as well as some unsigned concerts the chance to be heard and advertise a bit through out the park. We here in Delaware every year have a "Delaware State Fair" in July and it is really successful. Here are some idea's to offer:

    1. Ride's (Infalatable and Mechnical)
    2. Vendor's (Charge a small fee for setting up at the carnival/fair event)
    3. Games
    4. Advertise through out the park, this'll be great as it'll be a way to charge for them to advertise to cover some of the expenses the full $10k might not
    5. Unsigned artist's is a great idea and provides entertainment for the whole family... I would say they should pay you or you pay them, but hey... keep it free and make sure they understand the rules to not use profane language

There is many benefits to throwing a carnival, of course its fun and you can charge to ride on rides... let's say for example you charge $8.00 for all day riding of the ride's, and each day you get atleast 1,000 people... that is $8k right there MULTIPLIED by 3 gives you $24k in three day's... this should cover the charge for the rentals of the ride's and the generator (you'll need a HUGE trailer generator to be honest) ... not to mention the fact that you can find volunteer's to do the ride's and everything (or sometimes operators are included with the rentals.) Add in to the $24k the vendor's fee's, a portion of the sale's from the game's and the advertisements... you'll have enough money. Imagine being able to do this every year possibly.

Anyway, I'm too detailed, that should help you out

^^ Cool, figured you would, plus, if you do take that up, you should also work with some of the radio stations and tell them about it, sometimes they'll sponsor having a signed artist (or artists) at your event which will draw crowds from outside of your town/city. And you can get a portion of them profits too possibly.

    Food festival/contest

1st day could be BBQ or something to that effect
    2nd day could be pies/baking?
3rd day could be local restaurants giving samples away, marketing their businesses

All three days, make sure you have live music from local bands, local celebrities as judges for the contests, and places where festival goers can taste everything!

Everyone loves food (for the most part) and it's a growing market
