Help Me! Please Contribute!
Hi,
If you don't know me just visit my Introduction Thread in my signature
So, I have set a goal to have a business going in 365 days (364 now lol)
I am turning 18 on December 21st, which is when I will register my business and whatnot since I won't need to be in someone else's name.
I had the idea to start my own line of T-Shirts, I have researched and know a lot about it from printing to designing etc...
My main source of information was amazing coming directly from KEEBZ who started his brand GNO.
But now I am back at Zero and I am open to any suggestions on what I could do as a business asides T-Shirts. I would like it to be personal like my T-Shirt brand basically...
I have until December 21st to create my business plan and everything else and move into the Phase of whatever comes after concept and ideas etc...
I am gunning for it and even if I fail I will have learned, had fun and tried it!
Thank you very much,
-Philip Han

Well if you have researched it and it's something you want to do then go for it! Like you say, you can only give it a go.
Having the confidence to start something of your own is one of the most important steps and the fact you have set yourself a target this should focus your ambitions and help you reach your goal.
Good Luck!

Keep these aspects with your mind as you pursue your goal and you may do better than you expect...
Here is the formula to success:" Don't tell anyone I told you"
1. Desire
List all the reason why you want to become successful. The more reason you have, to greater the motivation you receive. The more motivated you are, the harder you will work in order to achieve your goal.
2. Positive Mind
Develop a positive mind by thinking positive thought continuously for 10-20 days. You can use affirmations, self talk, audio tapes, self recording etc, to achieve this state of mind. Once you have a positive mental attitude, you tend to see the glass as half full instead of half empty. Developing how to think positive takes time, but becomes permanent with practice.
3. Plan
Create a blueprint on how you will achieve your goal. Write out every detail, as if you were going to build a house. Make sure you continuously fix and update your plan as opportunities start to arise and when things don't always go your way.
4. Action
A thought with out action is a delusion. So you must take action in order your plan to work. By taking action, it reinforces your beliefs in becoming a success. Do any and everything you can think out in order to achieve your goal.
5. Visualize
See your self in your mind with your goals already attained. This will bring your goals closer to you and you closer to your goals. continue to replay this mental picture on the screen of your mind and it will soon become a reality.
6. Diligence
Its true that successful people start earlier and work later. All successful people work HARD HARD HARD. Incredibly, you have to work for the dream you want to attai. Its going to take work, but with focus and consistency, it will pay off big time in the end.
7. Perseverance
Don't you ever think about quitting or giving up. This phrase will help you stay focused and keep your eye on your dreams
" Winners Never Quit And Quitters Never Win"
This Quote may be a little outdated, but the meaning is still very powerful. If you want to attain your dream, it's a must to never ever quit. I'm not going to lie! There are going to be rough times, you may possibly go broke a few times and even get very stressed out. But in the end if you stay focused on the positive, following these steps and make every day a successful day, though goal completion. You will come out a diamond that has been forged though heat.

It will take you until December 21st to finish the business plan, you will need to work on it every single week. They take months to finish.

Definitely!
One of my weak points right now is trying to stay in my amazing "High On Life" moods...
It's the times where everything is perfect, my motivation is unparalleled, my inspiration is flowing etc...
But most of the time I cannot keep it up, I just go back into a no motivation and no inspiration mood!

Thank you very much, my mom had taught a couple of those points to me, my dad always has but in a very indirect manner without actually meaning it in a business way, more of a life lesson type thing.
I can easily stay positive, but I easily lose inspiration & motivation...
I don't want to quit, I am not quitting, I have been through so much that this is an easy task for me.
The only problem is that after a few hours a day I start going brain dead and just sit there and can't think of what I should/can/want to do!!!
I take breaks, relax and follow every standard and personal trick but I always end up being a bit depressed after a while...
I really think it's either me doing this alone, having no one to talk to directly and actually understand me and answer, I have friends and family that are always here for me... It's just that my family is always busy or not around and my friends know what to say, but it's very vague and standard motivation stuff...
I wish I knew someone who can be right there, help me, guide me or something in the sorts...
When I start school in a week I will have my art/graphics class again, every day, so that will be extremely helpful.
I just wish I can maintain my productive mind...
One reason I can think of is that when I start getting into things too much I dig too deep, go off track or I just take things to seriously that I get lost.
An example would be looking for a brand name, I go on for hours thinking researching and making up names but then I just give up because I can't find a .com for it which truly is stupid because there are other options, but I really don't know what to do to prevent this.

What are your skills? Service businesses are easy to start and very low cost. Good to do on the side.

A formal business plan doesn't need to take months to complete. I have written many business plans and have authored a how-to manual showing others how to write their own business plans.
My first business plan took only 3 weeks to complete and it contained every required financial report. Loan officers loved it because it was consise. It was immediately approved and forwarded to the SBA rep. And believe me I was so intimidated at first that I put it off for two years! I sat on my dream because I was so afraid of that dreaded business plan. But once I started I discovered it wasn't so difficult afterall.
I have no doubt that with your determination you can do it too!

I am creative, cultured, artistic...
Skills for services would most likely be Computer skills, but no thanks...
Especially in my area, people are not willing to spend money for such a thing.
I could definitely make money, but then I can't move on to college since my business is here...
Online Tshirt business that is flexible and determined by me is easier and better since I can get experience, feedback, recognition etc...
Or am I looking at this the wrong way?

Is it worth it to get a program like bplans.com?
I have read a couple business plans, and to be honest, it IS INTRIGUING for most parts, mainly the financials and highly technical things.
But I am fully capable of doing it, I have time, determination and smarts to do it.

Loan officers and SBC reps (probably angels/investors too) can spot a template a mile away. They appreciate it when they see someone that has gone to the trouble of writing their own plan.
Look over the samples in bplans.com to get a feel for the finished product. But I wouldn't use a template. I offer an outline and a step by step manual here:

Hi Philip.
I should imagine that t-shirts
Is a widely searched for term on the Internet, so a website dedicated to the subject would be a great idea, and not at all expensive.
I think it would be a great way of dipping your toes in the water so to speak and a great platform to launch your own brand.
So, you’d need to do some keyword research on the subject and find out what people are searching for, for example…
Retro t-shirts
Fun t-shirts
Novelty t-shirt
Cartoon t-shirts
…you get the idea.
You build a website around the most popular and profitable t-shirt related keywords and weave in your own products within those pages.
If you’re at all afraid of delving head-first into the website game, I can understand that. There is so much technology to think about and only so many hours in a day.
I was in your position not so long ago, even though I’m now 40. I had an offline business with a rubbish website and not many visitors and sales to speak of.
I couldn’t keep track of all the new stuff I felt I had to learn and understand, blogs, search engine optimization, e-mail marketing, web 2.0, and the list went on.
I moved to a service called Site Build It, affectionately known as SBI!.
It’s more pricey than what you might know as traditional web site hosting, and for good reason.
It’s goal is to teach and help you develop a long term, thriving Internet business, not just to sling up a website and hope.
It takes care of all that tech stuff that a lot of business starters are worried about and turns it almost into a click and it’s done system.
Don’t get me wrong, that is oversimplifying it, because one thing that it is, is hard work.
I could wax lyrical about everything it does, but I’m sure if you do a Google search for Site Build It, or SiteSell, you can find out if it might be what you’re looking for.
It certainly isn’t for everyone.
I hope you reach your goal of getting the business going within the year and wish you all the very best of luck.
Cheers
Darren
