    Heading to China

Whats going on everyone. It's been a while since I've posted on the board. But I'm heading over to China in May, I know a few of you have been, and from previous evperienses traveling, I've learned that there are always unexpected obsticles or just things to watch out for in different cultures/countries.

I've never Been, but I have contacts and I've sub contracted a factory Xiamen for three years now.

I have a set of goals to accomplish for my one month stay.
So I am basically looking for advice. Anyone have any advice for my travels?

    Much appreciated,
    Tom

Thanks for the reply Terry. Where are you based out of? I'm always game for networking. Yeah, Xaimen is big for athletic footwear. There's a lot of factories/companies there that specialize in it. I'll send you a PM.

Go and see as many factories as possible. You need to see everthing that is going on...not just 1 place.

I lead people to china about 5 times a year...I am happy to give you some advice.

Tom, you will need to search some more suppliers on globalsources.com or other websites, and contact them before you come to China and visit them.

I understand you have cooperated with your supplier for a long time and you both are cooperating well. But by visiting more factories, you will be able to understand Chinese suppliers better.

Take good chance of the visit as you are flying half of the earth from US to China.

Enjoy your time in China and if you need any further help, pls PM me or email me!

Great job-enjoy your stay. Is Chinese business etiquette as complex as Japanese business etiquette?

Hello Tom, I hope you buy one Chinese Map and then check with your suppleirs or contact person to find out where they live and advise how to go, make a good travel plan in order to save your time. Communitate with every suppliers and find out what they can do, what's their payment deal, payment term is importand for every Chinese Supplier, what's the price. It's better for you to give your suppliers what you need, better to have exact picture and info. such as material, size, q'ty, color, about delivery time you expect, this way is easy for your suppliers to offer you exact prices and do counter-samples. If you have any question in China, you may call me--86-13708959976, I will do my best to help you. good luck.

I am just wondering, what do you plan to do in china that you can't accomplish from home? I was going to travel to china, but between my school schedule, the cost and logic I decided not to go.
However, I am sure there are advantages, I would love to be able to put half of myself in china and the other half in the US.
Anyways let us know how it goes.
