    Having a Business Coach

The world of business moves faster and gets more competitive… it’s difficult to keep up with both the changes in your industry and, the innovations in sales, marketing and management strategies as well. Having a Business Coach is no longer a luxury, it’s become a necessity.
On top of all this, it’s difficult to get a truly objective answer from yourself. Don’t get me wrong, you can survive in business without the help of a Coach, but it’s almost impossible to thrive…

i'm not sure I'd endorse that

the role of a coach is that of a facilitator

she's hired so that the statements are better the next quarter as opposed to the previous (either through up revs or down exps)

this is achieved when the coach initiates, nurtures and closes deals for the business

to get this done she needs to be on the company board or an industry insider...such as a lawyer we've used who got the business to close a deal with her previous client

I think she was a good coach because she got us tangible results

with SCORE, I'm afraid that they are there in a different role, where they limit them selves to providing generic information and motivation for founders

    they are motivators, not facilitators

Danny, I'm sure the girl in your avatar is hot in real life, but in the picture she looks like you with a dress and a hat.

    Just trying to help.

    hehe, she's ok

i like that photo 'caus a racing carnival held an event for budding fashion designers

maria found out about it and wanted to enter, except she'd never sawn on a loose button let alone designed, manufactured and modelled something on national TV to a panel of people like Alex Perry

but..there she went...bought a sawing machine, read the manual, cut up her fingers and ended up in the semies having made a skirt, top, hat and matching accessories in under 4 days

we don't really talk that much anymore but I like to be reminded that there’s still some peeps around swinging for the fence

to be honest, I wish she’d fuck as good as she does hemlines….err…I didn’t say that

btw: thank you for trying to help...as far as my social life goes, it's probably a better idea to lobby for a IMF sponsored, institutionally funded "help nerezov get laid" releif fund. semester exams are a bitch :-)

I will paypal you two whole American dollars for that!

That's pretty cool though, 4 days isn't hardly any time to learn to do something like that.

To the OP, having a business mentor is very helpful but I don't think it's a necessity by means. I built and sold my first business without a mentor (or business coach), and now that I've moved on to my second and third I've been able to take that experience with me.

I've actually found it better to surround myself with professionals from various fields that I can call on for help from time to time If I am stuck - CPAs, Sales, other business owners, ect - rather than one mentor or coach who seemingly knows it all.

I think its money well wasted . You don't need a coach! You be your own coach, you learn yourself.

A business coach can really helps you esp when your a newbie, but if you have experience enough on that field, I don't think it is necessary.. But it depends on you, on how you know yourself.

Me myself, I wouldn't personally worry about getting a business coach because to be quite honest, you ARE your own coach. Only you yourself can learn the fundamentals and if you do learn it by yourself, you'll be a bit more successful. Although I'm not saying to NOT get one, cause I'm sure one can be helpful in such area's you dare to go into... just that I wouldn't try one myself unless it became a position where a business coach was needed to further develop my business or minimize a high risk maneuver... just me

I believe there is a difference between a business coach and a mentor.
A business coach is someone you pay who evaluates your performance and goals and tries to 'coach' you in the right direction.
A mentor is someone who you know and trust, whom you do not pay, and advises you based on their experience.
I know, the two are very closely related. I highly suggest people have mentors. I am not fond of business coaches that you pay. I look at them almost in the same regard as "life coaches", which I think is the biggest joke of a career this decade.
