Have you written a press release lately?

Hi there, I'm working on a product about using press releases for your business and my PR expert would like to do a couple press release critiques as part of the project - so, have you written a press release lately? Would you like a free critique from an expert?

Just email me kelly@kellymccausey.com if you're willing.

(There might just be a free copy of the product for ya)

I'm writing one right now and will hopefully be finished tomorrow.

I'll send it through to you when I'm done.

I'm going ot have a bunch of stuff written, like canned articles/press reseases, and send it to all of the local newspapers. Something about me juggling "a tough junior year in high school and starting/running a business". I'm going ot be using it for alot of my advertising since I'm running low on cash.......

How long are you accepting submissions for? It's also about time for me to send out a press release. So far I'm about 5 for 6 press releases published.

Here is my press release. I'll post it here so I can get feedback from the whole community.

PRESS RELEASE

Young Aussie entrepreneur returns to Canadian roots to expand business

Having spent the first twenty-five years of his life in Australia, Yaro Starak decided it was time to return to his parent’s origin, Toronto, and take his growing business with him.

TORONTO, Ontario – January 24th, 2005 – His parent’s left Canada because of the weather. Yaro Starak, a dual Canadian and Australian citizen, saw an opportunity to expand his business and experience a real Canadian winter for the first time.

“I’ve been to Toronto many times, but my parents always made sure we traveled to Canada in summer or autumn. I’ve never been through a Canadian winter. My home city Brisbane rarely drops below 10c so this will be a new experience” said Mr. Starak.

After a year of significant growth in Australia, his business, BetterEdit.com, a proofreading and editing service that links students with professional editors using the Internet, has officially entered Canada.

BetterEdit.com was founded by Mr. Starak, while he was completing a business management degree at university. He launched BetterEdit.com after experiencing first hand the difficulty faced by international students studying at university.

“I spent a whole night editing the writing of one of my group assignment members who was an international student. I thought, ‘if this is the quality of his writing for all his papers he must be struggling just to pass,’” explained Mr. Starak.

Students immediately began logging on to BetterEdit.com for help.

Now Canadian students have the opportunity to benefit from the service. Mr Starak has begun promoting at university campuses in the GTA and believes Canadian students will take to the service just as Australians have.

“My business improves hundreds of essays and theses from Australian students each year. It’s about time Canadians where aware of the service as well” Mr. Starak said.

“Surviving the winter will just add to the challenge!”

I've written quite a few 'press releases' from basic editorial to 4 page magazine articles. The thing with press releases is that they are 'advertising' so treat is as such. Mention your product (even if you are the product), pricing availability etc. and write passionately as readers can pick up on this even if the article isn't 100% perfect gramtically. (is that a word?)

Spell check is a must!
