Good choice using cafe press, I tried it once, but never made any shirts .
A little advice though; before you start making shirts, remember to make sure the sayings are not copyrighted, as you may be in for some legal disputes.

Will cafepress directly ship your items also, or do you have to order so many and have them shipped to you, then you ship them out for orders?

You just upload the designs and Cafe Press prints them and sends them directly to anyone who orders.

Over here in Australia they had a shirt that you could get printed that had your local town on it.

For example the shirt said

I'v been to.... New york Paris Londen PENRith

Yes they ship the product directly to the customer, so you dont have to ship it yourself
