Hard time finding a retail rental property!

So, for part of my business plan, I'm trying to calculate average cost of retail rental property in the area that I'm planning on starting my business. I'm having a real tuff time even finding any retail places for rent! The places I found are retail places for sale and I'm not looking to purchase a building, but rather rent a store front. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Go to loopnet.com its all the commercial real estate availiable for lease or purchase. It really helped me in finding a building. You will have to call the realtor though to find out the CAMS it makes the price go up and they are not always listed..Hope this helps...

That's odd. I thought most people would prefer to rent out than sell.

    Shaun,

Why dont you try calling up your local shopping malls. If all your doing is fishing for info, I am sure they would be willing to quote you what the rent cost would be. Or try calling a commercial realtor in your area, they should be able to give you estimates on the pricing per sq ft.

check out craigslist.com if you are in an area that is covered. I live in Chicago and they have dozens every day for rent.
