Group of specialized investor friends?

I've always had this particular future "dream life" of getting a few friends who were skilled in different areas of investing and trading (after we had some capital of our own to work with ofcourse) and work as a team, almost like a minor league investment firm, advising the others of what we were finding each day.

I'm sure this has already been done, has anyone here done it? Is it a good idea in practice? What can one expect?

Reminds me of the show "Dragons Den".

It would be a good idea and I'm sure there are some clubs out there that you could become associated with.
