It' all coming together ... like I've said before, Google knows that traditional software such as the OS, word processing etc will be based completely online in the next few years.

Once they have all the factors they'll release an online OS, which will be a little like a portal to start with.

They'll then partner with a computer hardware company to produce Google-screens... which will be simple expandable and flexible screens which connect to the Net. You login with your password and access all your programs online, store your files securely on google servers and all the processing done on google servers.

Can't wait

And after that I reckon bio-computing will be the next big thing. i.e. chips embedded into your head that allow you to see a "computer screen" through your eyes. Unlimited access to the world's information through a link to the Net, and we will be able to store all our thoughts and memories on remote servers.

Damn someone better shout me a beer if that's where we end up

cheers
nathan

There are already a few online Web 2.0 based operating systems out there but right now they are kind of useless. Once google has a nice office suite put togeather, hopefully free microsoft will have to rename their op sys to Astalavista
