    Google Check Out Vs. PayPal

I’ve been a long time user of PAYPAL but I’m considering switching to Google Check Out for my new transportation company. I was wondering if anyone could give me the Pros/Cons of switching to Google?

Also, I’m having trouble signing up for Google Check Out. Do I need to be a subscriber to Google Apps?

you have to sign up for a google account, but I can't remember which. I just did this for someone and it was so quick I barely remember it. It was a kitchen equipment compnay and using both apps, checkout and google products I was able to inventory about 5500 items online using their ecommerce webstore database in about 2 days.

They didn't have paypal, they have their own merchant account so they don't use 3rd party escrow (paypal like services).

I actually am wondering if you can use both where they would apply advantageously or not? I don't have any other experience with google checkout except for that one client, but I would really appreciate hearing any experiences you have, good or bad.

Also a note: Google was the best search engine ... ever... period. They do their best to make sure their commercial results are filtered and that users can make informed decisions. They built their brand on it, but does anyone else worry that the far reaching current marketing practices of google in addition to all of the now commercially based services will dilute this reputable company into another yahoo? I mean yahoo is still huge, but the point I guess is ... we already have yahoo.

I hate to say this, but did you try googling "google checkout" ? It's the first paid result and the first web result and both of those links will take you where you need to be. If you don't have an account for gmail or some type of google service already you will have to create one.

I figured it out. I had an open order in my shopping cart (Google Apps). Once I closed out that order it took me to the screen so that I could sign up for the service. It took me two frustrating days to figure that out... thank you for your help.

PayPal: easy to start accepting payments
Google: better transaction fees but complicated API integration with your shopping cart
