    golf ball recovery...

since i live near a golf course i've decided to "hunt" for golf balls and sell them.... i've gotten $15 and even $20 for 1 dozen "used" prov1's before.
i like this idea because it's summer and every monday the course is closed. that would be the best time to look for golfballs other than in the evening. i am naming my "buisness" THE GOLF BALL HUNTERS because the name is easy to remember. i have invested a tad into equipment too. so far i have made around $50 selling golfballs. i think this ideal should work. today i have made a trailer to haul my equipment in. $5 for a doz. random golfballs is a good deal, it only takes me 1 hour to find a bucketfull and maybe 1 hour to clean them.

i don't know if anyone on this forum golfs but if you have any suggestions about my buisness or equipment suggestions please comment!

i know some kids who just run around and fill buckets.... they also got some wetsuits and goggles and went diving in the ponds (that's where they cleaned up!)... they had fun and then sold the balls to the pro shop and they'd sell them on... good luck with it!

I did this as well when I was younger its a great way to make some $$$. The best place to find heaps is in the water traps. We used an old fishing net that we left in the water for about a week. Then we would come back and find about 50 balls in it.

    Good luck

HAHA awesome work man, on ya.

Stacks of balls to be found. The courses usually recover some and sell them on again as well. Sell them in bulk to the course

Well done it does look a good setup, only thing i would have said about the Trailor was maybe bigger wheels rather than skateboard ones.

The guy is just starting out in business by the sound of things and he is trying to work out ways on how to move his 1st business forward that to me means he is using his business initiative and for that you have to admire him,it is possible that he may be spending a lot of energy for little reward but if he carries on as he is using his brain like that and how to work things out he could end up owning a golf course.

don't discount the idea as i watched a documentary where 2 guys are doing it and they own their own golf ball shop doing exactly what this kid is doing... they have a major setup and know what each ball is worth and sell some pro balls at $20+ a pop... and the rest they split into packs... and then buckets for the driving range... they make a killing and love what they do... is it hard labour for little return?

im not sure what kind of resources you have but a great way to make this more viable and make more money is to get contracts with local golf courses to find golf balls on courses for them.

many courses do this anyway to clean up the course and so lawn mowers dont get ruined by hitting a lost golf ball. Also you can clean out the ponds and water hazards too.

This way you can make more money and create more of a legal business model

it costs me NOTHING... only time. that's it.

i did think about making the wheels bigger for the trailer but that'd cost me money. i used what i had lying around. i do look like a nerd pulling a trailer around but golfballs are worth it. today i went out for maybe 1-2 hours because i was SUPER bored and found maybe 30 golfballs. maybe 6 where prov1's. i really enjoy it and hope to earn a few extra bucks this summer... any suggestions people?

it's not stealing... it's recovering lost golfballs. everyone does it, or at least some of the homeowner's. the course could really care less i think.

Well, for me it is a good idea. It doesn't matter how much you earn as long as you enjoy what you are doing. It is a good start for you. Good luck!
