Getting bloggers/writers to write about your website...

Does anyone have any tips on getting writers/bloggers/editors to write reviews about your website? I was hoping on using this type of media to get exposure for my business. Any help would be appreciated.

I will share the experience I have, whereas there are many more people on here like Dale King and others that specialize in this...our Blog and forum and newsletter are subsequent features on the site.

I would contact those that may have an interest to grow themselves, as you are trying to do. For example, Lake Champlain is half in VT and half in NY, and we specialize in the Vermont side and are growing into NY. Well, an avid fisherman and boater who is well established in NY (PBS specials for fishing the lake, sits on various boards that serve the lake community, captain of a charter service, coast guard certified, etc) is looking to promote his new towing/salvage/rescue service over in VT.

His site has high traffic in NY so we are giving him his own "Blog Section" on our site and in turn we will have our own page onhis site and boat of the week section etc. with more to come.

We have done this/are doing this with a few others who we have formed good working relationships with.

You can also break out into other areas in that not everything has to be spot on in what market you target (eg boating and fishing for me). We are in the middle of working this type of relationship out with a reputable site that does reviews of local businesses and services. They want more presence in the marine community and we want them to promote us as a small business in VT, regardless of marine oriented or not.

Just my take on it, good luck though and hope you share what you find!

One of the easiest ways to get exposure in the blogosphere and gain exposure to your brand or site is to link out to other blogs.

Most bloggers regularly monitor their traffic stats and sources. If they see you wrote a blog post or article linking to them or talking about how great a resource their blog is, there is a good chance they will reciprocate.

Even if they don't initially, they will see your site in their traffic logs and be familiar with it. Then about 2 weeks after you have linked to them, you should send a personal email to the blogger saying that you really enjoy reading their blog. They will more than likely recognize your domain since you sent them traffic. Then if you ask for a link or mention on their blog in this email, they will be much more likely to give it to you.

Hmmmm..... Yea that could be an issue then. You could always buy reviews at ReviewMe - Advertiser: Get Traffic & Buzz! - Bloggers: Earn cash blogging!, or of course you could install a blog on your website and begin blogging.

Other than that, you will need your site to be interesting and actually have a reason for bloggers to write about it.

    Hi Invcble,

I have just written a post on this forum to propose entrepreneurs to write about them in my blog (see in my signature). Indeed, my blog is about new businesses in IT and I am struggling finding very young businesses.

Unfortunatly your business is not in my scope, otherwise, I would have been very happy to talk about it since it is a very nice concept.

    Best regards,

    Thanks,

I checked your site out as well. If you happen to run into anyone in the automotive blogging field please send them my way.
