Actually there are, they're a strange breed of people known as consultants. You pay them$100/hour and they give you ideas like "you need to increase your profit".

lol, consultants - http://www.mckinsey.com/

think tanks - http://www.fraserinstitute.ca/

really, if you can come up with successful ideas on a reliable basis, you will be successful and will be compensated for them as a manager, entreprepreneur, politician, etc.

generating ideas is a big part of being an entrepreneur, if not one of the most important

Consultants = people who failed at doing the job, so they then try to tell others how to do it.

What a walk in the park

Consulting rocks. I was hired at Kmart as a stock boy two years ago. A week later, a consultant was hired to shut down the store (Kmart's big fiasco). He ended up taking me under his wing and making me his PA instead of a stock boy. I got my paycheck trippled by him and did ALL of his work except phone calls and copying flyers. Being a consultant is the life (he writes off EVERYTHING as a business expense).

Errr, that's not really what a consultant is. Credit to him for doing that and identifying you as someone he wanted to use, but I don't see where he provided a consultancy service.

I hope you learned a lot from what he did - that's the main goal out of your experience.

His consultation had to do with telling them (management) the best way to move all inventory out of the store ASAP and he pretty much took command of the store.
