Look on ThomasNet (put that in the search engine) There you will find the most comprehensive list of manufacturers, distributors in the country. Do a search for sewers either state by state or across the U.S. You will pull the other sewers too as in waste. I can't think of another search word except I usually put in industrial sewers for heavy duty as I need.

Get them to make you a sample but first direct you to the raw materials manufacturers or you can search them too on ThomasNet. I just got samples of raw materials and sewed my prototypes in my kitchen by hand. Didn't know what the hell to do with a needle and thread...but I did it. Used glues and staples too on some prototypes. Then you show a manufacturer and they take you more seriously.

I have a number of sewn products and this is the way I researched almost every manufacturer in the country in my type of product. I could not do what I did without ThomasNet...NO WAY.

You can obtain a utility patent possibly for your concept but design patents are more common in clothing (and up to 1/4 of the patent typical cost) or you may realize the trademark is most important for your idea. Think of Levi, Wrangler etc. all they have now is the trademark, but they must have had a patent to start with but it is not necessary and less common these days. Good luck!
