From idea, to product

Hello,

After starting and selling a business 2 years ago in college; I am ready to move on to a new venture. I am a Design Management major at Arizona State University. My concept is a relatively simple electronic device that will streamline retail sales while solving a basic , especially with accessories (sunglasses, frames, jewelry, etc.). the actual for of the device would be easily customizable for each retailer, along with the basic user interface (color, typeset).

My question to everyone out there is this; Has anyone actually developed an electronic product from an idea to a working prototype?I've got the capital, I have working renderings. All i need now is someone who can engineer it electronically... feedback?

Hi Dan,

It is a very expensive process. Being an electronics product your best bet is getting it manufactured in China. Their are lots of product design companies some of them western managed that can develop your proto type for you. How much capital do you have????

It also depends on what sort of proto type you want. obviously with electronic you can have it made on just a breadboard ect but if you want a proper proto type to the right scale of your proudct you want to make sure you are going to do something with your idea.

I have taken a few products from design to development. The best way I have found is to try and discover a manufacturer doing something similar or with similar technology or components. If you can find the right factory to work with (china) you can leverage their engineers and designers to help work towards your goal.
