I too am wondering this, however wouldn't common sense tell you that a bought store is better?
If you are going to be cheap on a crucial aspect of your 'business', then you are going to have trouble further down the road.

i do have a professional working on a site for me right now but he is putting some things in it that are going to be way over what i can do. I want a store that I can put stuff on and that i can update without having to have him do it each time. Just something that i can work on for the time being and to keep with my other site. I want something that i can do with little experience in HTML or CSS coding.

The main difference with these two services is that you will have *.ecrater.com as your URL rather than *.com

try buying the website and using oscommerce. You can find most add-ons are easy to add in and there is a forum if you get stuck. Once up, you just add your products.
