So...I've been thinking about running with this idea for a few months now...but I've got no time to put into it, and no web design skills...so I figure if I'm not going to use these ideas I might as well put them out there for someone who has a bit more time and web skill to develop them. And I will say that I have no idea if they will be profitable or even work, but I just though they would be great ideas for website....
The first is a a site like Prosper, but set up for person 2 person giving, instead of loaning. People could go on and say they needed $xx.xx for an electric bill, hospital bill, fam. vacation...whatever. And people who wanted to help someone else could go on and donate $5, $10 or whatever to help them out. The reasons I think this site could work is 1) with the economy the way it is there are tons of people in need of assistance 2) there is also a new "giving" or "helping out" trend going on. There are lots of people who wish they could help out someone else in need, but are not really sure how...this would be the website where both could be accomplished. There is one other site that pops up when you google p2p giving (person 2 person giving) but its front page is kinda chaotic, and I wasn't even sure where to go, or what they did. Which is why I think something more simple like a prosper layout would work much better.
The second idea I had was along the same lines, but would be for people looking for non-monetary assistance. Like they need help changing their oil, or moving some furniture...Others could donate their time and help out. This would be more of a local site. Where you would search for people needing help by zip code...I haven't really developed the logistics of this much...but I do think it would be a great site it it was executed well.
Well, that's its for now. I hope someone can use one of these idea to start a great business. Let me know if you plan on using them, I'd love to see what they turn into.
