    Lightbulb First time web site

    Hello,
We're starting a full service chocolate fountain business and are in the process of developing a website. This is my first attempt and I was hoping to get some feedback from someone. I'm trying to make the site simple and to the point. I'd love to get your thoughts...both good and bad. The site is www.anelegant-event.com. Thanks!

Awesome job on that site, It looks great. I would only change one thing, the font on the list on the left (about us, packages, etc...) it's a nice font but at that size it is unclear and people may have trouble reading it. Other that then every is really nice, good job on the web site and good luck in the future.

    pretty neat!

The left buttons are hard to read.

The background is sort of ugly, but I think it's the best background you could get. A plain color would be too dull

    Good luck!

First, I wish to congratulate you on beginning your business. Second I wish to say it is a very good website. The only problems I noticed immediatally were the text under the banner (under "An Elegant Event....") is running off the background bar you have there. In fact, the text throughout the site is a little off and running to far left, either under pictures or off the background where it is lost in the dark chocolate colors you have there. From what I could tell other then that though, all links work and the pictures look great. Fix the text and I would say you are set to go......and maybe get rid of the site meter if you could, stands out like a sore thumb. If your hosting service does not provide a site statistics for you but you do get to see access logs, try using this instead http://www.ydownloadwle.com/. It is a free download that will sort out the information for you and tell you how many people have viewed the site, etc. Other then that, all look great and good luck!!!

sorry, I was wrong. The text is going to far right, not left. Forgot my sides I guess.

Wow...great responses....thank you all for your feedback. DereckC, I had one other person tell me that the text was too far right and some of the pictures were in front of the text. Has anyone else seen this? Could it be that DerekC's display/resolution setting could be preventing him from viewing the site correctly? I really don't know....I've tried viewing it from several different computers and they all seem to be fine. Any thoughts....?
    Thanks!

I just ran through the resolutions w/ 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x720, and 1280x800, all showinig the same thing. If you are pulling it up right on a few other computers however, then I would say it may just be mine for some reason. Tommorow I will be sure to use a few different computers to check it out for you. In the mean time, just to test and verify. When looking at your main banner, right under it you have the text "A Delicious Blend of Excitement, Entertainment and Elegance," for me it cuts off at "....and El" the rest is off the small bannerish thing.

    Hi there,

Overall, a nice job for a first website. Here are some recommendations:

    1. Tone-down the backround tile (chocolate). Maybe use a chocolaty color instead of an image. This might make it look a little more elegant.

    2. Think of your website as a funnel which is trying to get the viewer to take some type of action... perhaps to call you. Fashion all of your pages to get the user to take this action, or at least put your phone number on all of the pages.

That should help. Nice job overall- much better than my first site!

    Aaron

the design needs to be changed, no matter how good your sales message is or how unique your product is, you won’t go very far without a professionally designed website. Most visitors may not stick around long enough to get past that first stage. Give things another look again, you may want to check some articles about usability (positive visitor experience).
You may also consider cleaning the code for search engine spiders.
