So now I'm a little nervous. I've been talking about starting a VC/Seed Capital Fund for about two months now. Next Wednesday I'm actually sitting down with my first potential investor. The reason for this post is that I'm not sure what approach to take.
I'm a seasoned salesmen and I'm meeting with my mentor who got me started in business. My goal is to get him to invest $40,000 (or $10,000 in the name of each of his grandkids). He has a sweet spot for his grandchildren and I've in the past helped to set-up brokerage accounts for them as well as purchase stock for them. I'm thinking if I sell him on the potential return for them over the long term that he will be more inclined to say yes.
I'd would be a huge deal for this meeting to go well. I have about 9 other investors lined up and I need to close one quickly to show that the fund has potential. My goal is to raise $100,000 by the end of this year so I can buy into 1-5 different companies. I already have three companies picked out in which I'm actively consulting for. Each has proper management and proper product lines.
Any thoughts on this... I don't know why I'm nervous....
