    Finding a niche

    Hey guys!

For the longest time, I've wanted to become an entrepreneur in a field where I can really stand out. The only problem is, I rack my brains all day looking for that idea and I never seem to come up with anything special. Today, I decided to sit down and make a list of everything I'm good at (my core competencies), but I'm still looking to hit the nail on the head as far as that idea goes. Here's my list:

    -English: Fluent / native speaker
    -Norwegian: Fluent / native speaker
    -German: Fluent (written and spoken)
-High level of cultural competence (I've lived in Brazil, New Orleans, New York, Gran Canaria, Newcastle, Dubai, Frankfurt and Oslo).
    -People find me very entertaining.
-My friends often come to me for advice (relationships, job-related, financial, etc.).
-Formal education: Bachelor of International Business and Communication
-High knowledge of nutrition and physical exercise (self-taught).

I am incredibly motivated and hard-working, and I know if I found my niche, I would give 110% to make it work.

I'm sure a lot of you deal with this issue on a daily basis and probably don't have time to sit down and think of what I can do with my core competencies. However, if you happen to read this thread and see something fly off the page, I'd appreciate any and all suggestions.

Thanking you all humbly for your feedback,

    Marius

I'm in a Niche market (Airbrush Tanning) and before I started the business I wasn't "good" at airbrush tanning or color matching.

I just practiced until I got there! Definately a lot of trial and error.

Wow, that's pretty brave of you. Well, I guess the first step is figuring out what I can / want to do. Nice website

When in doubt start an Adult site... I guess I'll never make it as a business adviser.

mariusjacobsen what do you enjoy doing on your off time, or perhaps what type of problems do you see in life that you may be able to contribute a solution to it, maybe think about what you see happening in the future.

Think about this, people make hundreds of thousands if not millions selling pencils. I use to think making money was a one way street, but such is not the case. Currency will always be around so, think about how you can make money doing the things you already enjoy.

I definitely see your point. I know what I like doing; I guess the challenge lies in figuring out what my unique selling proposition could be.

Why don't you translate documents from English to German and German to English for various companies and individuals. If things go well then maybe you can hire other people on your crew to translate other languages.

I did work as a translator for a while. I got a lot of assignments and it paid quite well. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of social interaction. I was always working from home and never got the opportunity to socialize with anyone. If it weren't for that, I really would've stayed in that field, but I was losing my mind always being alone

The other thing about translation is that there are a lot of translators out there. I guess what I'm trying to do is find something unique that I can offer. Something that will make me stand out in the crowd.
