people don't like when others talk at them

use your blog to talk with people by using hyperlinks and asking questions

you do not have the qualification to write as any kind of authority to write articles on the subject, so you will lose your readers if you don't change and attempt to have conversations with your readers

use humor, pictures, particular kind of formatting and other tricks to develop a distinctive online personality

as a writer, you don't have a competitive advantage in authority of information (unlike a blogger like brad feld), so you must develop a competitive advantage through personality (i.e. sand hill slave)
