Hi guys,
Ijust wanted to run something past you and see what your thoughts were. As I am sure some of you are in similar situations your advice will be great.
My wife and I are both full time workers in the City and we live around 20 miles out of London. We have 2 boys, Matt, 9 and Paul 7. Now they are at the age in which we are trying to get them to do lots of things and try stuff out, football, etc and many other activities. The one problem we have is that many of the things are after school and we simply cannot get them to it, sometimes we get friends to take them but it is a struggle.
Anyway I was doing some research online and saw that there was a company in the states that operated a Kids only taxi service, the drivers were all CRB, drug checked, first aid training and all the vehicles are fitted with excellent safety features and entertainment features. Basically a fun and safe ride for the kids. They charge on a monthly basis or by a specific journey and offer discounts for 2+ children from the same family.
Anyway it got me thinking of starting this as a business in the UK. We live in a fairly middle class area and I know many friends who have told me they think the idea will be a good one and that so long as all the checks and safety measures were in order they would be happy to do it.
It could be simple trips like to and from school, or to sports practice, dance class, singing lessons, to see friends etc. It is much safer than a bus and all the drivers carry mobiles and have all of your contact details. Now I think that it is a good idea and I would use this service if I could, I just wanted to get the input of some of you guys to see what you thoughts were about this! We cant put a price on our childs safety and I think it would be a good way for kids to socialise, the vehicles could be colourful and attractive, the kids could really get used to it.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Thanks
