    Feedback for my idea

    Hi

I have an idea for a product which i'm in the process of having a sample made up for. The product is a car wing mirror flag with the design specifically aimed at English premier league football teams. For those of you who dont know what these are have a look here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PAIR-ENGLAND-C...#ht_2257wt_913

After the recent world cup these were popular in South Africa and have been sold in international team colours but not in national club colours. My idea is to fill this gap although i'm not sure if this is an idea that could work as at the end of the day its an extra bit of coloured material on the wing mirror of your car and will people pay £5 for this? My plan is to have a sample made up and then post pictures of it in use on message boards and have a poll to see who would be interested in it.

The market for expansion is good as there are endless possibilities that you could put on car wing mirrors, including marketing for companies. But i've chosen English football teams as my starting point as thats where I have most knowledge.

My supplier will be able to sell me 1000 if I bulk buy but does anyone think ill be able to sell enough to cover my costs as this is my first business.

Please give me any feedback, positive or not

    Thanks

    Charlie

I think £5 is pretty reasonable. Is that £5 each or for a pair? In all honesty, I'd be interested in buying some that weren't flags. Maybe something with my company logo on it would be awesome. Perhaps you can sell custom made ones to businesses?

Edit: BTW, your link doesn't work.

Have you spoken to the clubs about licensing their intellectual property. You don't wanna order bulk then not be allowed to sell any of it

I havent spoken to the clubs about licensing yet as my initial design is just the 2 colours of the club with no writing or logo, but is still recognisable. I plan to speak to the clubs (who would I have to contact in the club to do this by the way?) when I have sold enough of my basic design and then I can upgrade to the logo design.

c9consulting, what makes you think this is a good idea? I'm interested to know what you think. I believe they fit on all cars.

Also what thoughts do people have on reducing the risk? My supplier tells me I have to make a minimum order of 1000. I've asked if I can have 500 of 2 designs to reduce the risk but then the overall price goes up to $1730 instead of $1390 for 1000 of one design. Does anyone have any other ideas?

I think you could well be in for a shock when you find out how much clubs will charge to licence such products,i am not sure myself but all the top league clubs wont do it for peanuts.
The idea sound good but i am thinking about will this cause some vandalism to car from from rival footbal club members this may not be a problem but it was something that has just crossed my mind.

    Good luck with it though

yeah I thought of the violence problem and in the future if the venture is successful then in the future i'd release a permanent one to fix to your car rather than a removable one.

Would anyone be interested in having one of these for their business, with their company logo on? Its a great little marketing product!

Like I said, I think trying to sell them to businesses or car clubs or something would be a good idea. Perhaps you can contact clubrsx.com I bet members would be willing to pay $15/$20 for a pair.

I think its a good idea and has scope however, the football club idea is not so good. You want to using it for advertising on commercial vehicles of their company. They will go for this as it is unique and all big logistical company, courier etc love to be unique, look at eddie stobart naming the lorrys. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the feedback, how do I go about talking to the likes of eddie stobart? How do I get into the right department to talk to the right people?

    Hi Charlie,

This is great idea.. you are thinking only for football team but if you think there is so many big companies like Pepsi, Coke, Sony etc..., they do like this type of activities to enhance their brand awareness.
Initially you should do for teams as trial and then you should focus on big companies.in this way you will be able to get order in bulk..
i am sure this idea will attract to companies...because they can create awareness their brand with less spending.

Task to do this are as below

    Your Web portal.
    Seo
    PPC
    direct selling

    Thanks
