Fashion Blog To Promote E-Commerce Site

Hi All,

I am in the process of setting up a fashion blog - have registered the domain www.soakingupstyle.com (nothing is up yet)

The main idea behind the blog is to promote my sunglasses e-commerce website. If I can get the blog a high natural listing on Google, I should be able to generate extra traffic via links to the e-commerce site.

It would be great if anyone out there who is interested in fashion could advise me on what sort of things they would like to read in a fashion blog.

Also any advice or tips on this project would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Steve Waters

Steve,

So basically, you're planning on becoming an affiliate of yourself... I've done the same thing - I can tell you the biggest challenge is committing the time to do it. I set out a schedule, but then crises kept popping up that prevented me from sitting down and spending the time to write worthwhile things. Then it takes a couple minutes to plug images in, and link things... All in all each blog entry took about 20-45 minutes of my time.

You may want to consider hiring a writer for your blog - perhaps not necessarily to do it constantly, but maybe 3 times a week, and you'll fill in another 3 times a week. If you want to get any natural listings, you're going to be competing with a lot of players in the sunglasses category - you need to go full tilt for several months to see any results.

Good luck,

I agree with Dave ... I ran a blog for a while and quickly found out how much time it actually takes to maintain it.
If you are considering hiring a writer you might want to see if it is worth it to spend that money on advertisement insted. It might end up beeing a little more expensive but you will get instant results.
